It is one of the largest non-nuclear submarines in the world and promises to be a major step up for the Spanish Navy (Armada Española). The submarines include Isaac Peral (S-81), Narciso Monturiol (S-82), Cosme Garcia (S-83) and Mateo Garcia de los Reyes (S-84). Four S-80 class submarines have been ordered by the Spanish Navy.
